Ross learnt to dive in December 1979 and still remembers the thought that went through his head on his first dive clearly, “I’ve gotta get a camera, no one is going to believe this!”. Three months later he got his first underwater camera and has been taking photos underwater ever since. When not diving there is nothing more he likes to do than pass on his nearly 40 years of underwater photography knowledge and experience to help others improve their underwater photography skills.
Ross has won awards in many major nature and underwater photographic competitions including:
- Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year
- Underwater Photographer of the Year
- Our World Underwater International Underwater Photo & Video Competition
- Beneath the Sea Photo & Video Competition
- Celebrate The Sea Festival Underwater Imagery Competition
- Underwater Photography Guide Ocean Art Photo Competition
And has been published in several magazines including:
- Scuba Diving Magazine (USA)
- Asian Diver
- Australian Geographic
- Ocean Geographic
